THE GETTY VILLA

As time takes its toll on any grand structure, the grounds of this world-class gallery of art and antiquities was in need of attention. The Getty Trust contacted us to rehabilitate various existing landscapes and to design ones integrated with the new entry and members experiences.

Working with the grounds superintendent, original site design drawings from the architect and landscape architect, as well as traveling to archaeological sites in Italy to acquire first-hand knowledge of ancient landscape techniques and styles, we re-created many historically accurate landscapes. We also created new, artistic, natural experiences integrated with powerful features designed by architects Machado Silvetti, including an entry sequence, parterre gardens and water gardens.
